Modular housing chosen as solution for temporary homes in London

The Mayor of London has announced an investment of £11 million for temporary modular homes to help homeless families in the capital. There are currently more than 54,000 homeless households living in temporary accommodation in London, more than four fifths of whom are families with children. Temporary accommodation typically means privately rented flats, and can also include B&Bs and hostels. It is often expensive and can force families to move from their local area.

Lincoln Avenue Capital Acquires Majority Stake in HPET as part of a Landmark National Partnership to Create Affordable Housing

Lincoln Avenue Capital, a leading, mission-driven investor in and developer of affordable housing, has signed an agreement to acquire the majority stake in a social purpose real estate investment fund, the Housing Partnership Equity Trust (HPET), which invests in affordable housing across the United States. The transition is expected to be complete by the end of this year, after which Lincoln Avenue Capital will serve as one of the largest, single private investors in affordable housing. HPET was originally founded nine years ago by major Wall Street banks, prominent foundations, and nonprofit housing organizations that came together to pioneer an innovative approach to affordable housing investment and preservation. Until now, HPET has been principally owned by some of the nation's largest and most respected not-for-profit developers and operators of affordable and workforce housing for low- and moderate-income individuals and families. In partnership with HPET nonprofits, Lincoln Avenue Capital plans to purchase at least $150 million annually in workforce and affordable housing to expand HPET's investments. The company will continue HPET's traditional focus on largely unsubsidized affordable housing (what is also referred to as "naturally occurring affordable housing" or "NOAH"). Their rents are lower than those of the area's housing market. Originally purchased in 1944 by the United States Army as 435 acres of farmland, the site was improved with 20+ dry storage warehouses for use during World War II. In 1962, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) took ownership of a 177-acre portion, with multiple WWII warehouses, three 1950s-era warehouses, an administration office, and a water tower. The remaining U.S. Army property was sold to private developers. During the 1990s, GSA donated land to the City of Auburn for a park and the Auburn City School Bus Depot. An additional 8.4 acres was donated to the City of Auburn for its municipal fire training center. The disposal of the Auburn complex is part of a larger strategy to evaluate underutilized assets and shrink the federal footprint. IRG acquired the Auburn Federal Complex through an online auction process. Renovations to the existing eight warehouse buildings have begun and include fire and life safety upgrades, lighting improvements, and adding additional loading docks, as needed. Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust Completes $5.8 Billion Acquisition of Preferred Apartment Communities, Inc.

Blackstone and Preferred Apartments Communities, Inc. announced that Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, Inc. has completed its previously announced acquisition of PAC for $25.00 per share of common stock, without interest, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $5.8 billion. The holders of each series of PAC’s preferred stock will receive the $1,000 per share liquidation preference for each share of preferred stock plus accrued but unpaid dividends thereon, without interest. As a result of the transaction, PAC’s common stock will no longer be listed on any public market. Joel T.
