New Home Sales in U.S. Dive 8.9 Percent in October

According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Census Bureau,  sales of newly built, single-family homes fell to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 544,000 units in October 2019 after an upwardly revised September 2019 report. This is the lowest sales pace since December 2016. However, on a year-to-date basis, sales are up 2.8 percent from this time in 2017.
"The November reading is consistent with reports from our builders, who say that the job market and demographic tailwinds bode well for housing demand but rising interest rates and home prices are forcing customers to take a pause," said Randy Noel, chairman of the National Association of Home Builders. "Policymakers should see this drop in sales as an indicator that housing affordability will continue to slow down the market."

Invesco Real Estate Income Trust Inc., an institutionally managed, public non-listed REIT, announced it acquired a majority interest in Everly Roseland, a 384,648 square foot, 360-unit garden-style multifamily community across 30 two-story buildings, following a partial sale to an affiliate. The property is located at 28 Nob Hill Road in Roseland, New Jersey and it is 95% leased. This acquisition is part of a joint venture with Skylight Real Estate Partners, a regional, privately-held real estate investment firm with a focus on multifamily investment and development. Additionally, Roseland is a desirable community with fairly high barriers to new development and it aligns with our investment strategy for multifamily." R. Evernest Merges with Dodson Property Management and Enters Virginia Market

Evernest, a national, full-service real estate and property management firm, announced a merger with three divisions of Virginia-based Dodson Property Management. The merger will bring Dodson's divisions overseeing single-family property management, small multi-family buildings, and association management into the Evernest portfolio. The merger includes Dodson's entire single-family portfolio of 2,450 units; 1,100 units under its Portfolio Management division of smaller multi-family buildings; and all Association Management operations, encompassing 170 associations and 15,000 units. The names of the divisions will change to Evernest. The merger is Evernest's largest to date, and adds roughly 3,550 single-family homes and small multi-family units to Evernest's portfolio. The deal boosts Evernest's overall portfolio to more than 11,000 single-family homes and apartments under management nationwide and positions Evernest as one of the largest single-family and small multi-family real estate and property management firms in America.
