PROTECTING THE ROLE OF ATTORNEYS IN REAL ESTATE TRANSACTIONS

CATIC was created 52 years ago with one mission – to promote and protect the role of attorneys in real estate transactions. To that end, CATIC was responsible for the passage of legislation in Connecticut that requires that attorneys conduct real estate transactions in the state. No other title company testified in support of the legislation. In Massachusetts, we have supported the Real Estate Bar Association in its successful litigation efforts to protect the role of attorneys in the Commonwealth. In Rhode Island, CATIC recently filed an amicus brief in an effort to get the Judicial branch to declare that conducting a real estate closing is the practice of law. No other title company in Rhode Island supported this litigation.
