Austin real estate investor faces 15 years in prison over fraud scheme

An Austin man has been sentenced to 15 years in state prison for stealing funds from individuals who bought into a real estate investment scheme that he oversaw. James Elton Warr, 69, was sentenced on Dec. 1 after a five-day trial in Travis County District Court. He was found guilty of four first-degree felony counts: theft, securities fraud, money laundering and misapplication of fiduciary property. He was indicted in 2015.
