In 2019, private equity real estate is a multi-trillion-dollar global fund industry and the reason commercial real estate is today considered a capital market instrument—the so-called “fourth asset class,” on a par with cash, fixed income and equity. Even for finance, private equity real estate is a complicated, capital intensive and relationship oriented business. Our forum, Private Equity Real Estate, will explore both the role of private equity real estate—as well as the emergence of private real estate debt—as a Wall Street power.

(NYSE: EQY), joined REIT.com for a video interview at NAREIT’s 2016 Leader in the Light Working Forum at the Ritz Carlton – Coconut Grove in Miami. Equity One owns and operates retail assets, with a portfolio concentrated in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and South Florida. Lopez described the adoption of sustainability practices by organizations as a “learning process.” He noted that the initial goal in the early stages of implementation is to get support from the organization’s management team.
