Montana Residential, Commercial and Industrial Property Classification and Valuation Manua

Montana’s Constitution and laws require the Department of Revenue to reappraise all property periodically and value similar property across the state in the same manner. This manual provides a general overview of the mass appraisal process the department uses to determine the market value of residential, commercial and industrial property. Market value is the value at which property would change hands between a willing buyer and a willing seller neither being under any compulsion to buy or to sell and both having reasonable knowledge of relevant facts.
