Wireless technologies are expected to significantly reduce hospital costs and medical errors, as well as improve patient safety. As an example, heart failure patients who used an interactive telehealth system with motivational support at home spent less time in the hospital and felt their quality of life improved, according to the Catalan Remote Management Evaluation (CARME) study conducted by Philips Electronics. The study revealed a decrease of 68 percent in heart failure-related hospitalizations and a 73 percent reduction of days spent in the hospital.
