What is a Self-Directed Real Estate IRA?

A self-directed Real Estate IRA, is an IRA where commercial real estate is the investment vehicle, rather than stocks, bonds or mutual funds.In 1974, the IRS allowed for individual retirement accounts to own commercial real estate through “self-directed” IRAs. An IRA is an excellent source of capital to own investment real estate, on a tax deferred basis.
